Paintings in the Landscape
Welcome to the exhibition opening on Tuesday 4 April 17.00-19.00! Accordion artists Ella Koura and Tibor Iván will perform at the opening.
The premise of the exhibition’s artworks is the changes in color, light, rhythm and space that occur in the landscape as the seasons change. When the works are painted in the prevailing landscape, light and color create a metaphysical sense of space in the paintings.
The works are painted with oil colors on linen canvas. The subjects are inspired by the landscapes of Espoo’s Kivenlahti, Kauklahti and Oittaa. Experiential memories from kayaking trips can also be reflected in the paintings.
Asko Niemelä-Koura was born in Kuusamo, Northern Ostrobothnia in 1958. He lives and works in Espoo. Niemelä-Koura has graduated from The Free Art School, Helsinki. Niemelä-Koura has
exhibited in solo exhibitions and has taken part in group exhibitions in Finland and abroad.
