Anne Ovaska
Painter, photographer
Nature is the foundation of my art. Through painting and photography, I collect coincidences and traces. For me, creating images is a way of preserving past memories and capturing new ideas.
My works, which combine painting and photography, are collages of observations and memories—moments from past stories. The subjects and techniques I use flow into each other. In the most favorable moments, I reach the frequencies of the senses and the hidden corners of memory—missing pieces and the moods of color fields.

Pekka Kaikkonen
Kasimir Edschmid (1890-1960) has compared seeing the world in a way
that truly understands it to walking a tightrope, because it is so difficult to
unambiguously perceive our visible world. All living things on Earth have
different interpretations of the visible nature of our environment; the world
is only what our eyes, having seen it, present to us, as they please.
(Edschmid, K. 1961. On really seeing. Artikkeli / An article, Andreas
Feininger: “Stone and man”. New York: Dover Publications, Inc.).

My practice explores the relationship between humans and their environment, the fragility of nature, and the experience of light and space. Pekka Hannula
When I make collages, an important starting point for my work is ecology, i.e., recycling and environmentally friendly working methods. As an artist, I strive to reuse materials and work in a way that conserves nature. Another starting point is spirituality. In addition to collages, I draw, paint, and create graphic art. I have lived in Espoo for most of my life.

Andrzej Tarasiuk
The shapes attempt to capture change or fluidity as an aesthetic. Through bending and reforming of luan plywood past its breaking point, the material transcends its original function(nality) becoming a sculptural object. Certain areas of the sculptural objects are smoothed over, hiding the fishers and cracks, while others are only painted or left entirely alone. This work stems from my interest in understanding the human relationship with our surroundings, in particular in our ability to transform it to suit our needs. Guided by ideas of betterment and progress, our interaction with the natural environment has transformed it entirely, and allowed us to thrive unlike no other species before. At the same time our activities have brought into question the very idea of ‘what is natural’ and has put as, as a species, at existential risk.

Noora Ylipieti has been working on the vampire character since 2020. The ten vampire paintings first became a hundred and then a thousand, when the artist added one more zero after her series. In the thinking behind the series of a thousand pictures, one can find connections with both pop art and the manifestations of the avant-garde in fine art and poetry.
