Come meet artist Tyko Elo on Sunday, April 26th from 2-4 pm, whose exhibition “The Idyll of Birds” will be on display at Galleria Aarni in April 2026.
Extinct birds have been found in the Idyll of Birds, revolutionizing our understanding of prehistoric birds! The birds now on display at Galleria Aarni are different from those seen before: they are smaller, more colorful, glittery, and covered in thick silicone and paint – unlike the prehistoric birds previously found in the depths of primeval forests.
Tyko Elo has been interested in prehistory since childhood. He has pondered what prehistory really is. What is prehistoric in nature, music, and culture? Prehistory is the period of time for which there are no human records. It could be said that everything is basically guesswork. Today, birds are incredibly colorful and metallic. Why couldn’t birds like these have always existed?
But where are the small birds of Paleolithic art? They have, of course, fled to the Idyll of Birds at Aarni.
Tyko Elo has been creating works using dyed silicone for years. His works are combinations of painting and sculpture with a strong personal style. He graduated with a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the Academy of Fine Arts in 2015.
In Finland, his works can be found in the collections of the Espoo Museum of Modern Art EMMA and the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, and abroad, for example, in the collection of the Fränkische Landeszeitung publishing house in Germany.
