Vernissage on Tuesday 4.2. 17–19
At Gallery Aarni are displayed paintings dealing with two main topics of my artistic work: human figures and buildings. All of the paintings were made with oil paint on canvas in the year 2019 and January 2020. One of the starting points of my exhibition is the tradition of the portrait, which is linked to the social power structures. Portraits have traditionally depicted individuals who practice political, military, economic or religious power. Some of my works in the exhibition portray buildings that resemble everyday ordinary houses, but they are like coulisses. The home should be a shelter, but often a well-cared yard and a garden are hiding really dark and painful things.
